Covered Overhead Line Wire

Alcan Cable’s polyethylene covered overhead line wires bring our outstanding performance and reliability to your overhead distribution circuits. Alcan Cable provides a full range of single conductor line wire available in solid and compressed stranded 1350-H19 aluminum, aluminum conductor steel reinforced, and 6201-T81 aluminum alloy. Conductor covering is available in low-density (PE), high-density (HDPE), and cross-linked (XLPE) polyethylene.

Alcan Cable now offers track resistant coverings for its aluminum overhead line wire products to preserve the life of the conductor covering from electrical degradation that is caused by contact with trees on an energized overhead line wire conductor.

Features

  • Meets or exceeds requirements of ANSI/ICEA S-70-547
  • Designed for use in overhead distribution circuits at primary or secondary voltages
  • PE and HDPE covered cables are rated for 75°C operation
  • XLPE covered cables are rated for 90°C operation
  • Special heavy wall, single layer and two-layer track resistant cables are available in thermoplastic 75°C HDPE (black) and thermoset 90°C XLPE (grey) coverings
  • Track resistant conductor coverings can be applied to All Aluminum (AAC), All Aluminum Alloy (AAAC) and Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) cables as listed in the Aluminum Association Publication 50 Code Words.
  • Special track resistant coverings meet both ASTM 2303 Inclined Plane and ASTM D3132 Dust-and-Fog standards.
